In 1995 Medina releases her solo debut album “Paixao e Coracao”, followed two years later by “Separcao”. By then she has become a full-fledged pop star in Cape Verde, enjoying her fame and performing on many international venues and clubs.
After a chance meeting with Portuguese fado singer Fernando Lameirinhas she changes her musical direction and records the album Morna Mente in 2006. The singer changes musical direction to now passionately singing the morna, a traditional type of music full of melancholy and “blues” from Cape Verde.

This album which was partly recorded with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra received rave reviews and also eight nominations at the prestigious Cabo Verde Music Awards. She was rewarded with two in the categories of Best Female Singer and Best Morna. After this she performs on many nationally and international venues where she moves the audience from the first note with her enchanting voice. As if the singer not busy enough, she also joins the music project; CaboCubaJazz. An international band that merges Cape Verdian and Cuban traditional music led by Nils Fisher and Carlos Matos.

With her new musicshe builds a bridge between all her musical experiences from Cape Verdean pop to her past (Funana and Zouk) with the morna from her last album. The singer also mixes this with her influences and experiences from other project and her personal life.
